DISTRESS CALL RECEIEVED!


I have released a major update for my submission to the 7 Day Rougelike Challenge.

Balance:

O2: Oxygen now depletes at half the previous rate. Reducing every other turn. Oxygen pickups now no longer give an immediate benefit. Instead, the player can carry a single spare oxygen tank which can be used to fill up their primary tank by pressing the 'E' key. Oxygen pickups now only give you a spare tank. I did this because it gave more depth to the oxygen mechanic, allowing the player to choose when they use the tanks instead of being an automatic thing. When and where the player chooses to boost their oxygen is a much more engaging mechanic by making the system much more flexible and places more of the decision-making process on the player rather than the procedural generation. The limit of carrying one tank still prevents the player from hoarding oxygen and making the later levels simpler when the time and space constraints of the constantly hunting alien may not allow for the player the spare time to search for more oxygen. The key is to keep a good supply in case you need to hide or take a longer route but not expose yourself too much to danger and lose more oxygen than you gain by the expedition. 

The Alien: The alien was much too fast and would reach a point at the end of the game where you were simply doomed. The alien now has a greatly reduced move speed cap and increases in speed over a longer period of time. Additionally, the alien's vision has been reduced. It can now only see you up to a certain point.

Lockers: I have added lockers to the game for the player to hide in. The alien cannot see you while you are hiding in one. When you break line of sight to the alien, it will continue to move towards where it last saw you, if where it last saw you was just before the locker, it will likely still kill you. To enter and exit a locker, simply move into and out of the same space as the locker. You are not invincible while in the locker, when the alien wanders it can still path through lockers and will kill you when it moves through one if you are hiding inside. Avoid lockers that are in the middle of the room or along the route between two rooms.
